When i first started playing eve i heard alot of anti bob speaches, and as things have progressed for me, i have only heard more and more. Sometimes it seems as if everyone is jumping on a bandwagon just to be cool. I know that i am no impressive individual in the universe of eve, but i have to say that im not impressed with anybody that jumps on a bandwagon just to fit in. I can understand previously defeated enemies holding such a feirce grudge against bob, like ASCN, but i cant quite understand where more than half of everyone gets off with all this hate. Ultimately i think alot of it is jealousy. Ill admit im pretty damn jealous of bob myself. They are undoubtedly the most successful 0.0 alliance yet, and there can be no argument. They have had too many successful campaigns, they have an amazingly impressive supercapital fleet, a very organized and cohesive infrastructure, and they have very dedicated members.
I think its rather amusing that in response to sirmolle giving statistical facts about the recent engagements, his opponents provide insults, criticisms, and plain and simple hatespam. Such a response is, well, weak... Lets try to set things straight for a minute here. I have seen a multitude of things get mentioned in response, in counter of, and in defense of sirmolle's position.
Probably the most significant response is that bob is fighting a defensive battle. Thats pretty obvious, and from what i have heard, and seen, bob have been pushed back into delve. I must say that pushing such a powerful alliance back into their own territory is quite an impressive feat. I can barely fathom what that must have taken to do, but then again, it is easier to conquer the fringes of an empire when attacking from so many areas at once. It comes as no suprise that when so widely outnumbered and spread thin, bob would lose their outer territories.
A valid point that is frequently made is that bob is widely outnumbered, and that it is a testiment to their talents that against such odds they are still alive and doing well. For those of you anti-bob individuals out there that claim that bob fields larger numbers in recent engagements: while that may or may not be true, under the assumption that it IS true that bob outnumbers their enemies in delve, i would have to say that that fact is rather pathetic. The numerical potential that can fielded against bob is mindboggling. The fact that it might not be a reality i think can be attributed to a lack of general caring or dedication. Perhaps trend seeking bandwagon jumpers aren't as reliable as previously thought when going up against the hardcore badasses of eve!
In my noobishness, i would like to propose a question: If bob's recent defensive victories can be attributed to titan spamming the defense of cynojammers, why then do i keep seeing enemy capitalship kills on not only the bob killboards, but the public battleclinic killboards as well? Am i missing something? I looked at the killstats of RA's leviathan, and i saw something like 6 dreads and 3-4 carriers on that list, and then dozens of battleships and smaller ships. If bob is truly hiding behind their cyno jammers and supercapital fleet, why then did a red alliance leviathan get utterly destroyed in NOL? I think its very uninformed of anybody to say that bob hides behind their capitalfleet and cynojammers when a handful of normal caps + a bunch of support ships fend off 2 RA supercapitals in an allegedly cynojammed system. So what then? did those cynojammers get destroyed or something? and even if they did, i still saw no supercapitals 4 bob in that kill.
I guess you can all say: who am i to make comments when im an allegedly uninformed noob? I might be a small individual in the grand scheme of things, but i do watch and listen. I observe and explore and stretch my boundaries. i have the deaths to prove it.
Props to BOB. It takes alot to fight against so much and succeed, even if that success is defensive in natur
